Johann Sebastian Bach’s Musical Offering is the sonic equivalent of a drawing by M.C. Escher in which a single melody is continually transformed in ways that challenge both the imagination and the intellect. Myriad instrumental colors (including violins, viola, flute, oboe da caccia, bassoon, cello, and harpsichord) will elucidate Bach’s complex counterpoint in this special performance, which includes a new commission from acclaimed improviser and composer in baroque style Nicola Canzano.
